 The bride states the reason for desiring her Beloved kiss in Song of Songs 1:2 . She said: "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— For your love is better than wine." Initial knowledge of Beloved's love was the drive behind her expressed desire. Without God's love for you, your love for Him will be non-existent and that's why 1 John 4:19 says "We love Him because He first loved us". Without a deep knowledge of God's love as a foundation, your love for Him will be tossed to and fro by the challenges of life, the ideologies of men, and popular opinion till it eventually crumbles.  Paul prays in Ephesians 3:17: reading from the Easy English bible 'I pray that Christ will make his home in you, as you believe in him. Then you will know God's love very well. You will be like trees that have roots which go down deep into God's love. That will make you strong . "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth— For your love is better than wine." Song of Solomon 1:2 The Bride starts her speech speaking as if in absentia of her Beloved. Like he wasn't there but she was crying out and longing for Him. In the very next breath, however, she starts speaking directly to Him. To me it's as though the moment sought her Beloved, He showed up. Some think the reason God says to seek Him is that He likes to see us miserable. No. God asks us to seek Him not because He likes to hide, but because He likes to be found. Let me give an illustration to explain this: when a father plays hide and seek with his children he intentionally hides in places he will be easily discovered just to see the joy on their faces when they 'find' him. The father's goal is not to win but to see that expression of triumph on their faces. In much the same way, God loves our feeling of triumph when we seek and find Him much more than we do.  Song of Songs Chapter 1 verse 2: "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth..." Song of Solomon 1:2 NKJV The Bride expresses here that the kiss happens through the kisses of her Beloved's mouth. Though Jesus our Beloved is real, we can't see or touch Him physically, so what are the kisses of His mouth? The mouth is primarily an organ of speech before it is an organ to show affection. To understand the kisses of Jesus' mouth, we'll run through John where Jesus fed 5000 men with five loaves of bread and two fish. Seeing this great wonder, people sought Him out the day after for another of such. But when He wouldn't succumb and spoke to them instead about seeking Him, the bread of life, they turned away from Him. Jesus at that moment asked if the disciples would leave too and Peter said: ...“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life. Also, we have come to believe and know that You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” John 6:68‭...

Today we move on to the content of the Bride's desire. What she meant when she said in SoS chapter 1 verse 2: Let him kiss me ... Song of Solomon 1:2 NKJV We can desire many things from Jesus, but to experience intimacy with Him, we must desire to be kissed by Him. What does it mean to be kissed by our Beloved? ... There are 3 implications of a kiss: A kiss is used to express affection: Ranging from light kisses between friends and family to deep, passionate, and intense by lovers. This request by the bride was a desire to experience how deep, intense, and passionate her Beloved love is. There are certain acts God does solely to reveal His love to us. The greatest of such is the cross. Ephesians 5:2 tells us "...Christ loved us and gave Himself for us". But beyond that, every day, God shows how much He loves us through His interventions in our day-to-day affairs. A kiss draws into something deeper.  We're still on the opening statement from SoS 1:2 expressing the desire for the king: "Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth..." Song of Solomon 1:2 NKJV In the previous episode, we spoke about the two tests better put two actions that must back our desire for Jesus as we express it in prayer. However, there is a way of thinking that backs this action. To better understand we'll quickly run through a popular story in the Bible Esther with many other maidens was gathered from all the provinces of the kingdom at the king's need for a bride. They were all taken to the palace and were put in custody of Hegai the king's eunuch for a year. They had heard of King Ahasuerus and were presented with a chance to have an intimate relationship with Him. At the king's orders, they were to have whatever they wanted.  Like the Bride asked in SoS  chapter 1 verse 2: Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth... Song of Solomon 1:2 we established that we must express our desire for a deeper walk with Jesus in prayer. But just like when you invite someone to come into your home the door must be unlocked we must unlock the door for our Beloved Jesus to come Him when we invite Him in. There is a song about the Messiah King and His bride in Psalm 45. First, the song talks about the Messiah, then it reveals two other characters in this song, the maidens of the court and the King's Bride. It states that both of these characters are of royal birth: daughters of a king. Yet only one found favor with the King. Just like in this song, the SoS has a category of characters referred to as the daughters of Jerusalem. No special distinguishing factor between them and the Bride yet they seemed to be just spectators of this love story.  At salvation, we all become daughters of the King brought in...

We're still on the Bride's statement in SoS 1:2 " Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth..." In Revelations 3:20 Jesus says to a body of believers: 'Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come into him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20  Indicating that He's knocking not only on the sinner's heart but also believer's.  So how do we open the door to Jesus? I think one of the most exciting things for a woman is being pursued by a man. Let me rephrase that, being pursued by a man she's in love with or interested in.
